Muzi - Matilde Soldati (*1995, Lugano, CH)

I live and work between Biel/Bienne, Bern, and Lugano.

After obtaining a Master’s degree in Contemporary Arts Practice at HKB in Bern in June 2024, I had the opportunity to continue my academic journey with a predoctoral year at the same university.

My artistic practice is rooted in a deep interest in the traces left by living beings, the places they inhabit, and the spaces they occupy, both physically and conceptually. At the core of my research lie two main themes: the human perception of other animals and their behavior in relation to the environment, and interspecific cohabitation, with its multiple causes and consequences.

Through works created using mixed techniques and materials, I explore the complex relationships between species that, spanning past, present, and future, tell stories of love, conflict, and suffering. The works oscillate between harmony and unease, creating dynamic spaces for reflection, where interspecific and interdisciplinary dialogues are questioned. Images, fragments, and references to other living beings, placed within a human cultural context, open up new perspectives, inviting a reevaluation of our perception and relationship with the other. These creations encourage reflection on how we observe, perceive, and coexist with other species, both individually and collectively.
