STAGNO creates a space where the wild and the domestic mix, forming a unique, shifting environment. Moist Spirogyra algae are arranged along three iron wires. As the algae release drops onto four sensors on the ground, these sensors pick up the vibrations and play the sound through two speakers aligned with the algae.
The drying algae and rusting iron show the passage of time, marked by the sound eventually stopping. This temporary installation contrasts with the two videos displayed in separate rooms. While the installation in the center feels familiar and connected to our sense of time and space, the videos create a loop that isolates the viewer in endless time. This shift in scale either brings us closer to the world around us or makes us feel more distant from it, highlighting the limits of human perception.
